APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition launched at conference

APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition launchesAfter close to three years of hard work and collaboration with over 1,200 stakeholders and 350 contributors the Association for Project Management is proud to have launched the APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition at the annual conference yesterday – pictured with Esther Fry, APM Product Development Manager, who worked on the refresh programme.

APM has transformed the way project management professionals can access the growing collection of knowledge representing the profession therefore allowing them to learn, discover and contribute with two extensive resources at their disposal – APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition and APM Body of Knowledge+.

The APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition has been completely refreshed and will, for the first time, represent the full breadth of professional disciplines of project, programme and portfolio management.

The book will be on general release on Wednesday 8th August, but can be pre-ordered before then at an impressive discount of 40% off the full price. For a limited time only pre-order the 6th edition at the 5th edition price – this is a saving of over £20 off the paperback paying just £29.50 (RRP £49.95)*.

The APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition provides the foundation for the successful delivery of projects, programmes and portfolios across all sectors and industries. Written by the profession for the profession it offers the key to successful project management and is an essential part of the APM Five Dimensions of Professionalism. It is a scope statement for the profession and a sourcebook for all aspiring, new and experienced project professionals offering common definitions, references and a comprehensive glossary of terms.

Highlights of the APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition include:

  • Fully refreshed and updated content increasing coverage to 69 sections from 52 therefore widening the knowledge of project professionals
  • Increasing the breadth of content by incorporating project, programme and portfolio management across all sections
  • New flexible, functional structure that allows new and emerging principles, tools and techniques to be accommodated as the profession develops and grows

The book is supported by the APM Body of Knowledge+ a collaborative and revolutionary online knowledge resource developed by the community for the community becoming the one-stop shop for project professionals.

The APM Body of Knowledge+, which can be accessed by members via the APM website, supports everyone engaged in projects, programmes and portfolio management. We invite everyone to develop the resource by suggesting new ideas or updating existing ones.

It is a dynamic resource of concepts, terms and activities that make up the professional domain of project, programme and portfolio management. It builds on the APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition – APM’s standard taxonomy of the profession. It is a living resource of case studies, templates, benchmarks, ideas and thought leadership.

The APM Body of Knowledge+ covers all areas of project, programme and portfolio management; three concepts which are fluid and overlapping. Users can draw upon techniques from all three dimensions to manage their work.

As the profession grows we invite all users of project, programme and portfolio management to contribute through this site.
