Study Highlights the Benefits of Project Management Training

A recent survey released by Parallel Project Management shows that attending a professional project management course provides a multitude of benefits, both for the project manager and the corporation. Statistics show that management training increases overall success rates for project completion.

Past attendees of the Parallel Project Management Training Courses took a survey on the benefits that come with attending a management training course, with 89.65 percent of the delegates agreeing that Parallel Project Management Training Courses currently benefited their company.

Professionals from Parallel Project Management report that the benefits of professional training courses include developing successful project goals, defining a realistic budget and project duration, effectively implementing the project’s essential phases, effectively managing potential changes in the project’s scope and objectives, and successfully implementing a structured approach with work packages and project delivery.

This recent survey collaborated with other studies over improved communication among the business’ stakeholders and increased leadership quality awareness. The survey looked at the effectiveness of professional management training courses and daily business activities to determine how training benefited the business.

According to the study, 64.52 percent of respondents agreed that project management courses helped improve current work projects. Many attendees believed that the course assisted them with successfully managing their project teams and dealing with different personalities while on the job.

The survey showed that most respondents viewed professionally certification as a vital component of progression in the business, equipping managers with the core understanding of a successful project’s attributes.

Professionals from Parallel Project Management explained that groups within an organization who attended the courses and learned about standard project management methods were able to utilize a common language and develop a reliable approach to managing a project. According to the study, building a common language enabled the project manager to clearly define best practices versus team development.

The study explained how project management courses helped attendees obtain the necessary management skills through real-life scenarios and software tools, equipping delegates with extensive knowledge in Critical Paths or Pert Charts for successful project completion.

Naybour stated, “Parallel training courses provide project managers with invaluable insight into stakeholder requirements to ensure the project is completed successfully. Delegates focus on their Critical Success Factors and the stakeholders to become effective project managers.”

Approximately 71.43 percent of those who attended various APM courses agreed that professional project management training helped develop current management skills.

Delegates believed the management areas that most benefited from training included stakeholder and team management, planning, Critical Success Factors development, stakeholder and team communication, quality management, leadership, change management, and conflict management.

During the study, delegates responded on how beneficial project management training was with learning new skills, implementing a fresh perspective, and reinforcing existing skills.

According to the survey results, 64.52 percent of respondents agreed that training helped build new skills that benefited the workplace, including Pert Charts, earned value management, procurement process, project implementation, active risk management, costing, and scheduling knowledge.

The survey further revealed an overall clearer understanding of the terminology used in project management. Delegates agreed they were able to reinforce common language practices for a clear discussion on current and future projects.Naybour explained,

“Professional project management training enables managers to develop and communicate their present project goals and requirements to determine a concise consensus for successful project completion, taking into account the perspectives of clients, stakeholders, and project managers.”

A main benefit that respondents agreed resulted from the project management training course was a formulation of current topics by project managers, helping them utilize real-case scenarios to contextualize project information.

According to the survey, over 96 percent of delegates responded in the affirmative when it came to the importance of management skills to project completion in today’s business sector.

Various studies prove that project managers who learn management skills through trial and error result in more money lost by a business. Statistics show that learning through trial and error in the workplace can results in wasted effort, project delivery failure, excessive costs, and poor customer reputation.

The study showed that implementation of active learning techniques assisted project managers with the development of necessary behaviors, skills, knowledge, and attitudes to strengthen core competencies.

According to Naybour,

“Professional management training courses encourage project managers to utilize competency learning for the successful delivery of business projects as well as for the avoidance of all hidden costs associated with learning necessary project management skills in the workplace.”
